MAKING
Made in Sheffield. Made to work.
Modern production, close inspection and the practical knowledge of a city that still knows how to make.

SHEFFIELD, ENGLAND
The work happens here.
Stoic knives are made at our Mowbray Street factory in Sheffield. We combine accurate modern processes with careful hand finishing, bringing every knife from cut blank to finished tool under close control.
Raw materials are selected for their suitability. The making, finishing and inspection are carried out here.
THE PROCESS
From sheet steel
to finished knife.
01
Design
A blank page and a pen: drawing on years of experience in knife design and manufacturing, every Stoic knife is designed from the outset to be made in Sheffield.
02
Prototyping & group testing
Working alongside professionals and passionate home cooks alike, every Stoic knife is prototyped, tested and refined with feedback from the people who will actually use it.
03
Cut to profile
Each blade begins in carefully selected steel, cut accurately to the profile developed for that particular knife.
04
Precision ground
The blade geometry and cutting edge are ground according to the knife’s intended use, balancing performance, control and straightforward maintenance.
05
Handled
Handle scales are fitted securely to the full tang, then shaped and finished for a comfortable, controlled grip.
06
Finished and inspected
Every knife is sharpened, finished and inspected in Sheffield before it is boxed and leaves the factory. And yes, even the boxes are made here in Sheffield.
