PURPOSE BEFORE THEATRE

Good tools need no mythology.

Our knives begin with the cook: the grip, the cut, the daily rhythm of preparation. Every decision serves performance, longevity and ease of care.

That means dependable steel, clean geometry and attention to detail at every stage of manufacture. It means making at a scale that brings excellent Sheffield knives back into working kitchens.

A SHEFFIELD NAME

An historic name, rejuvenated.

Stoic is a revived name from George Barnsley & Sons, the Sheffield toolmaker established in 1836. It is being developed by the same team at our Mowbray Street factory, applying a long-standing understanding of working tools to a new generation of kitchen knives.

The name comes from the past, but the approach is firmly modern. Stoic combines accurate, repeatable manufacturing with skilled finishing and close inspection. The aim is not to recreate old knives, but to make dependable Sheffield knives for the way people work today.

MADE ON MOWBRAY STREET
