About us

This website is operated by Mowbray Manufacturing Co Limited, trading as Stoic Sheffield. Our registered office is 47 Mowbray Street, Sheffield, United Kingdom, S3 8EN. Our company number is 11303035.

Age restrictions

You must be aged 18 or over to purchase a knife from us. By placing an order, you confirm that you meet this requirement. We may use age and identity verification and may cancel an order if suitable verification cannot be completed.

Delivery may require valid photographic identification and must be made to an eligible adult in accordance with the delivery service used. Restricted items cannot be left in a safe place or delivered to a parcel locker.

Products

We take reasonable care to describe products accurately. Natural materials such as olive wood vary in colour and grain, so each handle may differ from the photographs. Minor variation is part of the material rather than a defect. Product measurements are approximate unless stated otherwise. The colour displayed on your screen may vary slightly from the finished product.

Orders

After placing an order, you will receive an acknowledgement confirming that we have received it. This acknowledgement does not mean that the order has been accepted. A binding contract is formed when we send confirmation that the goods have been dispatched.

We may decline or cancel an order before dispatch if a product is unavailable, pricing or product information is incorrect, payment is not authorised, we cannot deliver to the address provided or required age and identity verification cannot be completed.

Prices and payment

Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable. Delivery charges are shown at checkout before the order is submitted. Payment must be authorised using one of the methods offered at checkout.

We take reasonable care to ensure prices are accurate. If we discover an obvious pricing error before dispatch, we may cancel the order and issue a refund or contact you for instructions.

Delivery

Delivery estimates are not guaranteed dates unless expressly agreed. Risk in the goods passes to you when they are delivered to you or another person identified by you, subject to any applicable age-verification requirements.

Cancellation and returns

You normally have 14 days after receiving an online order to tell us that you wish to cancel it without giving a reason. You then have a further 14 days to return the goods.

You may inspect the goods as you would in a shop. We may make an appropriate deduction from the refund where a product has been handled beyond what is reasonably necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning.

Full instructions, return-postage responsibilities and refund times are provided on our Delivery & Returns page.

Faulty goods

Products must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If a product is faulty, damaged, incorrect or does not match its description, contact us as soon as possible.

Depending on the circumstances, you may be entitled to a refund, repair or replacement. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or breach of your statutory consumer rights.

We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable when the contract was formed.

Our products are supplied for domestic and private use. Knives are sharp tools and must be used, cleaned and stored responsibly. You should follow the care and safety information supplied with the product and provided on our Knife Care page.

We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control. If such an event affects delivery, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible and take steps to minimise the delay. If there is a substantial delay, you may contact us to cancel the affected order and receive a refund for products not supplied.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, although consumers living in Scotland or Northern Ireland may also bring proceedings in their local courts and retain any mandatory protections provided by the law where they live.
